Time to break the chains.

If you thought I was unhinged before… well. Get ready for me to multiply this with eternity and add the heat of the core of the Earth and the Sun combined into the mix. You have seen nothing yet. Pluto is approaching its final settling into Aquarius and WOW has it burnt me. Now I’ll take the fire and burn shit to the ground. For good.
Witch season has officially begun
Be prepared to get sick of me and my fellow witches. On the internet and in real life. The Sun has moved into Libra at 1.44 pm BST on the 22nd and you could argue that it’s time for the beautiful things in life and to bring more harmony, even seek balance.
And if you can, definitely do that. Bring joy and pleasure into your life. It is, in fact, vital to fuel activism, if that’s what you’re engaging in. If you’re not, what are you even doing here?
You’ll learn the most in one-to-one relationships this season (ugh, I know!) and will love to be a little extra. Just make sure your extra-ness doesn’t come from places like Amazon or Shein. Seek out small businesses as much as you can. Get used to waiting for things a little longer. Let go of urgency.
Did somebody say… let go?
While we’re here, why not talk about the elephant in the room: Eclipse season. There is one more eclipse to go, the annular solar eclipse in Libra on 2 October at 7.44 pm BST. It’s a “ring of fire” eclipse and absolutely spectacular…if the Sun was still up by that time in the Northern hemisphere.
When the moon is in Libra, we feel sociable and eager to please. We shy away from confrontation (sounds a bit like the British public…) and become indecisive, trying to see every last side to something. There are no two sides to genocide, by the way. Well, as eclipses are eclipsing, how about we let go of all of that shit for this one? I know, I know, it’s a new moon and everything. Intentions, goals, blah. But how about we just go with the flow here and release stuff? Let nature and the falling leaves lead you. Want to make your home a bit more beautiful? How about getting rid of some stuff before you buy anything new? Glorious.
As if eclipses aren’t intense enough, we also have a fiery full moon to contend with on 17 October at 12.26 pm BST. The Full Moon in Aries. The *good* news is that it will put an end to eclipse season. The challenging news is that it does it with a little bang. When the moon is in Aries we have a shorter temper (ask me how I know^^) and are easily upset. We usually easily forget the whole thing and move on, though, too. No grudges here! And we more easily take charge of our emotions. So, if you’re up to release some more, let it be grudges and resentment. That’s the poison you drink and expect the other person to die from. Sort out your relationship stuff. Set boundaries, have the difficult conversations and cut some cords. Your mental health will thank you.
Going deeper
On the 23rd, Venus moved into Scorpio. With Venus in Scorpio, we’re not here for superficial relationships. We meet people and share our trauma right then and there. We are not afraid of an all-consuming connection. But! Beware of jealousy and possessiveness. We’re working on liberation here, not tying people to us. Not by force anyway. Community and humanity bonds are much more nourishing than one-to-one relationships which isolate us from that.
Mercury entering Libra on the 26th may just calm us down a little bit. It’s always nice when the Sun gets a little support from other planets in the same sign. You’ll avoid arguments, be rational and super fair. You may even become diplomatic, who knows. Could never be me. Those challenging conversations? Now is the time to have them because you will stay (fairly) calm and collected.
Retro…what?
No, no, don’t worry, Mercury is behaving and staying in direct motion. For now. This time it’s Jupiter retrograding from the 9th onwards. Jupiter is currently in Gemini and gives us this natural curiosity about life (look at where Gemini is in your chart to know which area specifically!) and an openness to new ideas. In Retrograde motion, we’ll feel more restless here, eager for things to change quickly when we know it takes time. You may want to achieve some sort of intellectual high ground and I’m telling you from experience: fucking don’t. Putting yourself over others, even just in your own head? Never a good idea. Always backfires. Equally, don’t put others on pedestals. Also never a good idea. Instead, look sideways and see where people are at. See where you are at. Look at what you can learn from each other. We all have a role and a space.
Our death-y friend Pluto? Stationing direct on the 12th!!! Hallelujah! We’re moving back into the final degrees of Capricorn. The US elections are in that timeframe before the little fucker moves into Aquarius for about 20 years and let’s just say… it has to get worse before it gets better. These last few weeks of Pluto in Capricorn are something we will forever remember.
Darkness and hope
Mercury moves into Scorpio on the 13th and let’s just say the time for diplomacy is over. You will want to get to the bottom of things and will NOT be mincing your words. You either speak your truth or you’ll stay silent. Please speak your truth, we need more people doing that.
On the 16th, Venus enters Sagittarius and it’s all getting a little less intense. In fact, if you have sacrificed your freedom for others, you will well and truly be done with that now. With this freedom loving energy, I hope you find a way to want collective liberation, too. Because what you call freedom is likely just privilege.
Equality? Equity? What now?
Libra may bring the wish for equality. Equality is very limiting, though. You can give two people the exact same thing but they will not end up in the same position because one of them may have more obstacles than you thought of. Oh, then give each person what they need to have the same experience in the end! Yes, that’s better. Equity is great. Needed. The next step.
But what we truly want and need is liberation. Whilst justice and equity bring us to a place of a level playing field under the current system, which is the amalgamation of white supremacy, patriarchy and late stage capitalism, liberation takes down the whole system. We NEED justice, true justice. What we need more, though, is to break the chains of it all entirely. We need true liberation, true freedom, true community. And the way there? Sacrifices. Of course there is more to it, but if you start anywhwere, look at where you can make sacrifices that have a direct impact on people more marginalised than you. Things that have an impact on their active liberation. And remember to stay patient. This is a collective effort and one that has been ongoing and will be going on for quite a while. Get strapped in and find the balance (ha!) between whatever you can do for liberation and what you need to do to survive and meet your needs.
Stay magnificent. Stay witchy. Rest in Power, Marcellus Khalifah Williams.
