It’s time to shine. Ready to come out of that shell?
Aren’t you glad that Cancer season is finally over? All that crying, all that hiding, all that… anyway. It was the end and beginning of my annual cycle, so I may be slightly biased. I always hide in Gemini and Cancer season and come back out for Leo season because it has this glorious full moon in it that I cannot wait to dance under.
Retrogrades abound
Look, it’s Retrograde season. It was bound to happen. Let’s prepare instead of despairing. Our friend and wounded healer Chiron goes first on the 26th. Think about which advice you freely give but don’t take. Especially in the house that Aries is in your birthchart. Are you procrastinating for no good reason? Where do you need to take action but have been stalling? What is it that you need to finally start doing?
Mercury enters Virgo that same day before stationing Retrograde on the 5th. Yep, here we go. Let the internet collapse! Bring down any communication if you don’t get your way or aren’t the centre of attention. Because Mercury Retrograde brings both Virgo and Leo energy moving back and forth between them. Remember that Retrogrades are nothing to fear. It’s a time to go inwards and reevaluate things. Recalibrate, rest, retreat a little. For a lot of people, now comes the time of summer holidays. Try to lean into that vibe, even when the world around you is busy and loud and, you know, collapsing.
The moon, look at the moon!
The New Moon in Leo is on 4 August 2024 at 12.13 pm BST, at 12°34’ Leo. It’s a fantastic time to set intentions around standing in your power. Which parts of yourself have you been hiding from the world? What needs unmasking, uncovering? What truth do you need to say out loud? Be bold, roar. It’s time.
My favourite full moon of the year, the Aquarius Full Moon, is on 19 August 2024 at 7.26 pm BST, at 27°15’ Aquarius. Time to shed the things that stand in the way of you embracing that truth and power that you tapped into under the Leo New Moon. Let go of your fear of connecting to community. Try not to hate all people, because we need each other. Release whatever holds you back from being the strong force of nature that you are. REMEMBER who you are.
Dance of fire and earth
With the Sun in Leo, we’ll see our Leo friends being even bolder than usual. Let them. Give them the spotlight they deserve this season. Learn from them. Get out there and let people celebrate you and love you. Open your heart and let people in. People and opportunities. Be confident in who you are. Be a loyal friend. And heck, be stubborn, because Leo is a fixed sign and these fixed signs tend to be VERY stubborn. Just make sure that doesn’t stand in the way of truly connecting.
The 5th is also the day that Venus enters Virgo, joining Mercury for ten days. You’ll be more cautious when it comes to matters of love. You’ll be more critical with… everyone and everything. And you’ll play it as safe as you can because you’d rather be safe than sorry. Maybe that’s what you need right now. In that case, embrace it. Maybe it’s a lesson to see where you’re playing it too safe. Look at the house Virgo is in your chart to get an idea of the area of life this affects the most.
Squares and roundabouts
There’ll be challenges along the way during Leo season and your best bet is to embrace them. Move through them, process your feelings when shit comes up. Call in your friends and your community to get through.
But you know which of the planets is most problematic right now and always? Earth. Please join a local climate group and do something to build resilience in your neighbourhood. Speak out for the people who can’t. Let’s put our whole weight behind ending every last genocide, behind ending Empire. For good.
