It’s that time of the calendar year again where societal norms tell us that we should celebrate new beginnings. At the beginning of winter. In Capricorn season. Witch, please…

A backdrop of rolled up banknotes from different countries with the eyes of the people portrayed on them blacked out. Cursive text on a half transparent teal background at the bottom says: Are you still working for the man or are you working for the world yet?

Learn and get structures in place

One thing Capricorn is really good at is getting structures in place. So with every planet and their dog being or moving into Capricorn, let’s take a look at those things. Sprinkled with some Sagittarius energy, what could go wrong?

Everything, that’s what. But let’s not dwell on that.

A strong start

Now, I would not be a good witch without mentioning that, as the Sun moved into Capricorn on 22 December 2023 at 3.28 am GMT, the winter solstice was exact, too. Time to welcome in the light with the start of winter. Light a candle each night, burn shit from now on for twelve-ish nights, do whatever you need to do to make the bad ghosts disappear and the good ghosts stay.

The Sun was conjunct Mercury Retrograde hours later and then Mercury had the audacity to move back into Sagittarius. You’ll now talk to whoever will listen and let’s just say tact won’t be your strongest point. Ideal for family gatherings, isn’t it? Anyway, this is a learning opportunity. You’ll be activated and you have two options: React or respond. Which one will it be?

Let’s cry and rejoice

The Full Moon in Cancer is exact on 27 December at 12.33 am GMT. Time for a film marathon that’ll make you cry. Family reunions, deaths, love stories – whatever does it for you when you can’t cry, go for it. Release. Release the pain. What pain? Well. Chiron, only a few hours later, is finally stationing direct. So whilst you have been dwelling on who you are and how you could express that to the world in the past few months, Chiron was laughing at you knowing the answers would come once he was out of that inwards motion. So, now is the time to go for it and actually heal any wounds that come from hiding who you truly are and then running with it from around Aquarius season.

On the 29th, we see Venus entering Sagittarius. Time for adventure. Not a time to be sacrifcing your freedom for other people. You’re in a flirtatious mood and outgoing. Yes, even as an introvert. Yes, that looks different for you if you are one of those creatures. It is NOT exactly the time to make romantic or financial commitments unless you’re already firmly inside them. And remember not to touch contracts or surgeries until well into January, if you can help it. Mercury is still retrograding.

Go big or go home, steadily

On New Year’s Eve of all days, Jupiter stations direct. Why yes, Retrograde season is almost over. Any longlasting expansion and fortune that felt as if it was stifled in the past few months is likely to pick the pace back up from now on. You will feel steady and patient again and get your helicopter view of situations back. Good to see it from a bit of a distance, isn’t it? You also don’t need to push so hard anymore, you can ACTUALLY go with the flow.

Supporting this gorgeous forward motion, Mercury stations direct on the second and eventually reenters Capricorn on the 14th, a few days after which the post Retrograde shadow phase will also be over. Phew. Just like that, you’ve made it through. With Mercury hanging out in this sturdy sign, you’ll be more methodical and careful about, well, everything again. Your communication will be more measured, you take one step at a time and unless your brainfog is caused by something quite physical, you won’t forget things as easily anymore for the rest of this transit.

Set intentions, gain momentum

On the fourth, Mars will also enter Capricorn, giving you the feeling to be on top of things again. You move into a space of commitment to your goals and you’re not afraid of a bit of hustle. Just make sure you don’t burn out. Nothing’s worth that.

On the 11th, at 11.57 am GMT to be exact, the Capricorn New Moon graces our skies. Or rather, it doesn’t as we don’t get to see it. 😀 If you DO fall into the trap of resolutions – or find them quite empowering, really – now is a better time than the first to set some powerful intentions. Look at where Capricorn is in your chart and focus your efforts there. Plenty of new moons to come in 2024 that will focus on other areas of your life. Don’t shoot the messenger, I don’t make the rules. Patience.

With that, I’m back into the off. If you want to find me before 9 January, you can get me on my Discord server Pluto in Aquarius right here.

Stay magnificent. Stay witchy.
