Burnt out much?
Aries season was a whole lot. So many new things started, some of them never left the initial step stage. Now you’re feeling bad about it and potentially completely overwhelmed. That’s okay. Take a deep breath with me. In…and out. Unclench your jaw, release your shoulders and another deep breath. In…and out. There. From that space, we’re gonna have a look at what this new season brings us.
The Sun moved into Taurus on Friday, 19 April 2024, at 3 pm BST. That was also the day when Mercury was conjunct Venus and Mars was sextiling Jupiter. In short, generally a good day to do the thing and have that conversation. Mercury Retrograde, despite what everyone says, is not here to fuck shit up, it is here to teach us some lessons. And that Friday was a phenomenal day to start implementing some of what you’ve learnt.
Long lasting change incoming
Taurus invites you to take things slow. Create a foundation and go step by step instead of taking leaps upon leaps upon leaps until you burn out. Mars sextiling Uranus on Saturday helped you take some action towards that change and the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction on Sunday supercharged that whole thing. Want to change something in your life for the better and for GOOD? Now is literally the perfect time. All you need is an extra serving of patience.
With Venus conjunct Chiron AND the Sun squaring Pluto on the day of the big conjunction, you’re now likely also facing some wounds that need tending to and may experience a bit of a death and rebirth situation. This energy will still last a while, so use it.
Timing is everything
The absolute best way to use that energy? Work with the moon. That’s the easiest way to live astrology, too; something I get asked how to do a lot. The moon changes signs every 2.5 days. So it’ll have touched every area of your life (all the houses in your chart) by the time a month has gone by. Use it to understand your chart!
Anyway. On Wednesday, 24 April 2024, at 12.53 am BST, the Full Moon in Scorpio will close off eclipse season for six months. The last little bit of release before we set some powerful and long-lasting intentions with the new moon in Taurus this season. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and – would you believe it?! – this little full moon situation is also squaring Pluto in Aquarius. As is the Sun from the other end. In short, it’s gonna be a bit of a wild day. Intense energy (Scorpio) meeting disruption (Aquarius and the whole Uranus in Taurus thing) and opposing the stable foundation that is also being shaken up by our little friend Pluto.
What a nightmare? Nope. This is a gift. It may feel heavy, but if there is anything at all that you couldn’t let go during eclipse season because your head was all over the place, now is the perfect time to release those last bits. Everything that stands between you and whatever new shit you’re building has to go. Everything that doesn’t line up with your values and desires needs to find the exit.
Where were you in 2010?
Not necessarily physically, but definitely in life. What was going on around, say… 8 June and 19 September that year? How about 4 January 2011? Those were the days (in BST and GMT, respectively) when the last Jupiter-Uranus conjunction happened. The fun thing about that one is that the first one was in Aries and the other two were in Pisces. What themes came up in your life around those times? And how far have you come since then?
Take those lessons and that growth and use it as motivation to use this conjunction’s energy to build the strongest foundations you can think of. Jupiter brings opportunity and good fortune while Uranus brings the disruption that Jupiter expands infinitely. This conjunction will not happen for a long while, at least not in your lifetime (the last Jupiter-Uranus conjunction was on 8 May 1941 and Uranus will enter Taurus again in 2102). Their next meet up will be in 2037 and 2038 in Cancer (hey, fellow Cancer Risings, that’ll be an ace time for us!!!). Use this earthy energy. Make big and bold moves and start creating something beautiful.
In fact, whatever you have started (one of the 500 things…) in Aries season?! Make it count now. Let all the little bits that don’t fill your heart and soul with joy fall away and focus on THE thing that lights you up. It may be two or three things, but if it’s more than that, you haven’t narrowed it down enough. The one thing that gives you stability and makes you get up in the morning for. That’s what we’re looking for here. You can and you will.
Out of the microwave, into the world
Yep, it’s time. On the 25th, Mercury stations direct!!! Woooohoooo! Magic! Yes, this Retrograde business comes with a shadow period of about two weeks, but that’s for integrating. Shit you have learnt during the Retrograde now gets to be integrated and you can finally move on from it. Still being in Aries for a while, start those conversations you’ve been holding off on.
Before Mars moves on into Aries (which it rules) on the 30th, it is conjunct Neptune the day before. If Mars in Pisces taught you how to go with the flow, Neptune is amplifying that at the end of the month. Your subconscious is taking over and you may get some insights on how to love that. The day of this dreamy conjunction also sees Venus entering Taurus. Another planet where it belongs. Venus rules Taurus and Libra. Venus is basically the ruler of the season and sprinkles us with some love and beauty and indulgence. Lean in. A magnificent time to take extremely good care of your body. Nourish yourself in all the ways. Stay hydrated. Moisturise. Protect yourself from the sun (yes, even if you can’t always see it…). Make sure all aspects of your health are taken care of. Including making that doctor’s appointment that you keep avoiding.
Bring in some Pluto action
On the first of May (😱), Venus then goes on to square our little friend Pluto. That also happens to be the day of our Beltane Witch Circle, so please make sure to book yourself in now! This square will show you where you still have work to do in the nourishing and self worth departments. Which small things can you do to root yourself a bit more? Where do you lack confidence and how can you start cultivating it, even if just a little? All it takes is that first step.
Mercury may have left the Retrograde building, but now it’s Pluto’s time. Pluto stations Retrograde on the second and this transit will trigger its last hurrah in Capricorn, between September and the end of November. We will see a lot of clinging to power and trying to cling to the oppressive status quo. But then? From 19 November, Pluto will be in Aquarius for about 20 years. The moment we’ve been waiting for. So take this Retrograde to gather your things for the revolution that has been well underway for quite a while now; you’re just seeing it more these days. Just before you’ll probably see it less unless you choose to participate. And if you don’t want to participate, here are two things: 1) WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??? and 2) At least get out of the fucking way for the rest of us.
On the third – yep, we’re not done yet – Mars sextiles Pluto. Now, this will feel much lighter than the squares we will have had during the season’s full moon and the one with Venus two days earlier. This sextile helps you move along, towards the rebirth that you prepared for during the full moon. Eclipse season and that Scorpio moon helped you get rid of a LOT of shit. Now it’s time to build again, so use this energy to do just that.
More healing and change
The rest of Taurus season brings more healing and change. On the seventh, we have Mercury conjunct Chiron and the Sun sextiling Saturn. Time to talk about all the things connecting to those wounds. Maybe time for a new therapist or a new group space where you can share without judgement, without shame. Or leaning into the spaces you’re already part of. And bringing some structure to your dreams, so you can actually make them come true. Make a plan!
The New Moon in Taurus on the 8th (at 4.22 am BST) will help you get clear on what and who you want to hold you in life. This energy is a fertile ground to set intentions for more money, more physical resources in your life. Where do you lack stability? How can you move towards more of that? Take these themes into the last 12 days of Taurus season from here.
On the 13th, we’ll see the Sun conjunct Uranus – hitting that change muscle that you’ll really want to train this season – and Venus sextiling Saturn, which brings us the right amount of loving energy to keep those structures, those plans in place.
The last stretch
Mercury enters Taurus on the 15th and makes our communication way more measured, but equally stubborn. You won’t feel very flexible with your opinions and ways of thinking during this time, so you may want to hold off on making huge decisions until early June. Two days later, Mercury is the last little fucker squaring Pluto, giving us a chance to shut the fuck up. Or, you know, choose violence and get into arguments with bigots. Instead, choose your words (and who you speak them to) wisely. Channel your energy into some revolutionary communication instead. How about uplifting some Palestinian and Sudanese journalists on social media? Just an idea.
The 18th comes with two conjunctions: Venus and Uranus come together and the Sun and Jupiter are having a big fat hug. A gorgeous day to put those intentions into action. Everything foundation, stability and self worth. Work on it. Make it happen. It will be fruitful and carry you far into the future. Think money, other physical resources and emotional stability. The day after this conjunction fest, the Sun sextiles Neptune and shines a light on your dreams. Go explore them. Are they still aligned with what you’ve learnt this Taurus season? What needs to change? Make some decisions, if you don’t feel deterred by Mercury. After that? The Sun moves into Gemini and we’ve left stubborn season.
Guidance
This all sounds good but now you want some personal guidance? No problem! You can book a tarot reading for the season right here. Or a Soul Session here, which is a personalised seasonal astrology reading based on your birth chart. Which means that you’ll know exactly which 3-4 areas of your life are most affected this season. For now…
Stay magnificent. Stay witchy.
